Spencer Brook Music Festival
Since 1986 the Spencer Brook Music Festival in Concord, MA, has offered music students a fantastic week of making music in an atmosphere of fun and friendship. Participants—elementary through high school age—play in small chamber music groups and also in orchestra, practice in technique workshops, get individual coaching, and enjoy student and faculty performances. After lunch there is recreation—soccer, Frisbee, and informal chamber music and coaching until 2:15.
Festival Director Paul Leder leads a faculty of dynamic musicians, noted internationally for their excellence as performers and teachers.

2008 Music Festival Information
August 18th-23rd, 2008
Here is some information about the festival activities and schedule:
  • Arrival time: Our musical day begins at 9:00 am. Since each group depends on everyone being present, students should arrive by 8:50; if it helps with family morning schedules they may arrive as early as 8:30.
  • Pick-up time: Monday through Friday pickup time is 2:15pm except for those staying until 5:00pm for the extended day. Students must check-in and check-out every day. The extended day cost is $15.00 per day or $60.00 for Monday through Friday.
  • Festival concert on Saturday: Students should arrive at the regular time on Saturday. The concert will be held at the Scout House next door to the Church. The concert will begin at 12:00; it should last around one hour and fifteen minutes. There will be a short reception following the concert.
Things to bring:
  • Lunch. We will provide a delicious mid-morning snack, but students should bring a lunch and drink in a pack that can keep cool.
  • Your instrument. Of course! Make sure that your case has a name tag.
  • A wire music stand. Mark your stand with your name on some masking tape. Stands sometimes get mixed up during the shuffle from chamber groups to orchestra and practice sessions, but they are easily reclaimed after the Saturday concert if they are tagged. You can leave your stand overnight at the church.
